Saturday Blue Jay From Way Up the Mountain
Spring has sprung, so we went up to Icehouse trail and found a friend. Wildlife photographers often sneak in like a predator, hide like prey, and wait all day and night for that great moment. Me, well I’m not all that stealthy in the forest. So I get in there and sit still until the local critters get over my presence. I forgot to go silent shutter mode so I got this rather eye roll ish look back from the bird.
Someone had carelessly left a Chinese noodle lunch out there and this guy was all over it. But from time to time he would come up on the log and preen a bit, sing his song and look about.
And after a bit he would depart for a nearby branch.
Each image was taken with my 400mm telephoto, which on my APS-C sensor camera means the lens is effectively a 600mm lens. And then I cropped in. I was never closer than about 60 feet away.
